Megan & Nicholas in Charlottesville, VA

Megan & Nicholas in Charlottesville, VA
Megan and Nicholas planned a simple estate wedding in Charlottesville, VA.
Photos By: Stephen Karlisch Photography
Location: The Kluge Estate, Charlottesville
The ceremony unfolded in a small chapel on the Kluge Estate. The bride and a friend wrote the entire ceremony, including the wedding vows.
The couple hired a high school cello quartet, The Monticellos. "Four darling girls with big bows in their hair," Megan remembers. They were joined by the 8-year-old daughter of a friend playing her five-song violin repertoire. "She forgot her dress socks," Megan says, "so she wore pink shoes and grey and red striped socks. It was adorable."
The couple used greens to decorate the church, accented by white flowers. "We wanted to let the chapel shine," said Megan. Small bay leaf and herb wreathes decorated each pew.
The reception was held in the estate‘s conservatory, decorated with small votives and brass torches. There wasn‘t much need for other decorations, as the plants and herbs in the greenhouse provided a beautiful touch. The menu included plenty of fresh vegetables, as well as handmade candies from the farm shop on the estate.
Each wine served at the reception came from the vineyard, and was accented with sparkling wine and peach tea.
Megan carried a simple bouquet assembled in sections. Then, instead of tossing it during the reception, she handed each female guest a small piece. Some of the wedding guests were each given different lapel flowers. "We wanted each special guest to feel special," she said.
Designers Megan and Nicholas chose to celebrate the simple beauty of a Charlottesville, Virginia estate, complete with wines from the vineyards and herbs from its greenhouse.

The Bride Megan Reinhardt, 32, Designer
The Groom Nicholas Rawlings, 28, Designer Fabricator
The Date August 13

The couple met through the bride's roommate at what Megan calls the most unglamorous place possible -- a bar. Several months later, a tearful Nicholas proposed in the couple's driveway, unplanned and without a ring. (Of course, Megan said yes!)
